Law No. 19,300 on General Environmental Bases; SEIA Regulation (D.S. No. 40/2012 MMA); D.S. No. 38/2011 MMA «Emission Standard for Noise Generated by the Sources It Specifies» — currently undergoing gradual replacement by D.S. No. 14/2024 MMA (published February 27, 2026, with an 18-month phase-in for projects entering the SEIA and 30 months for other sources); specific guidelines and criteria from the Environmental Assessment Service (SEA) depending on project type.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need this study if my project is submitted as a DIA rather than an EIA?
Yes. Both a Declaration (DIA) and an Environmental Impact Study (EIA) that may generate noise or vibration must include baseline measurements and a regulatory compliance assessment; the depth of analysis varies depending on the type and scale of the project.
My project already has an RCA — does D.S. No. 14/2024 still apply?
If your RCA was approved under D.S. No. 38/11, it remains valid. D.S. No. 14/2024 comes into effect gradually (18 months for projects entering the SEIA from its publication date, 30 months for other sources). If you’re considering modifying the project, it’s worth checking whether the modification must be assessed against the new standard.
What information do you need about my project to get started?
Project location and layout, expected noise/vibration sources (machinery, traffic, etc.), project phase (construction, operation, or closure), and your timeline for SEIA submission.
Do you work throughout Chile?
