Environmental Noise Control Engineering Study

Who it’s for

Industrial, agroindustrial, port, or any-sector companies that must comply with D.S. No. 38/11 MMA (or its update, D.S. No. 14/2024 MMA) and need to define concrete noise mitigation measures.

Applicable regulations

D.S. No. 38/11 MMA (transitioning to D.S. No. 14/2024 MMA); monitoring and enforcement procedures of the Superintendency of the Environment (SMA) where applicable.

Scope / methodology

Noise source diagnosis; modeling of scenarios with and without control measures; design of solutions (enclosures, silencers, barriers, attenuators, among others) with estimated expected attenuation; verification through post-implementation measurement.

Deliverables

Diagnostic report, engineering proposal with technical specifications for the control measures, and final verification report.

How we can help

Briefly describe the noise source you’re concerned about and your timeline for addressing it.

Frequently asked questions

What types of control measures do you design?
Acoustic enclosures, silencers, barriers and attenuators, active noise control, among others, depending on the type of source and expected outcome.

How do you know a measure will work before it’s installed?
We model scenarios with and without control measures to estimate the expected attenuation before recommending an investment.

Do you verify the measure worked after installation?
Yes, the service includes a verification measurement after the measures are implemented.

Does this only apply for regulatory compliance, or also to reduce disturbance to neighbors?
Both cases apply: whether to comply with D.S. No. 38/11 (or its update) or to resolve a specific complaint reported by the community.

Related projects

Both are large-scale environmental noise diagnostic and modeling studies for the MMA; they do not involve the design of physical mitigation measures, so we present them as evidence of diagnostic experience rather than installed control engineering.

Delivery time

4 to 16 weeks, depending on project complexity.
