Frequently asked questions

What is dosimetry and why is it necessary?
It’s a measurement of a worker’s noise exposure over their shift, using a portable device (dosimeter). It allows us to calculate the daily exposure dose and compare it against the limits set by D.S. No. 594/99 and/or PREXOR.

What is PREXOR and who must comply with it?
It’s the Occupational Noise Exposure Protocol (PREXOR) from the Ministry of Health / ISP, which requires hearing health surveillance for workers exposed above certain levels; it applies to companies in any industry with noisy workstations.

What happens if a workstation exceeds the permitted limit?
We design hierarchical control measures: first technical (enclosures, silencers), then administrative (rotation, exposure time limits), and finally personal hearing protection.

How many workers do I need to assess?
It depends on the number of distinct workstations, not the total number of workers — several workers can share the same exposure profile.

4 to 8 weeks, depending on the number of workstations to be assessed.
