A study conducted between 2018 and 2019 for the Undersecretariat of the Environment (MMA): the development of the noise map for the concessioned stretch of Route 5 North/South, the country’s main land transport artery.
Traffic noise was modeled along approximately 2,150 km, across 101 municipalities, based on traffic flows, detailed cartography and environmental conditions. The study included 106 noise measurements —26 of them with weekly monitoring stations— and a detailed analysis of 13 priority areas, with around 1.8 million people in the study area.
Mitigation measures —noise barriers, low-noise pavements and façade insulation— were also assessed, providing the MMA with information to manage the highway’s noise.
